Collection: Pre-Workout

Need more energy before your workout? Pre-workout supplements combine ingredients designed to support focus and performance, helping you get the most out of your training.

There are many different pre-workout supplements available, so before choosing one, it is important to consider what you want to get from the supplement and when you plan to use it.

What should you know before choosing?

1

Which pre-workout should you choose?

There is no single best pre-workout for everyone. The right choice depends mainly on what you want to support. If your main goal is focus, look for pre-workouts containing caffeine or tyrosine. If you want to focus more on muscular performance, look for ingredients such as beta-alanine or arginine.

A popular first choice is a classic stimulant pre-workout that combines several ingredients aimed at supporting mental focus, energy and muscular performance.

2

Pre-workout with caffeine or without?

Stimulant pre-workouts with caffeine are suitable for reducing feelings of fatigue and supporting focus. If you train in the evening, already consume a lot of caffeine from other sources, or are sensitive to caffeine, choose a stimulant-free pre-workout.

Tyrosine can be a caffeine-free alternative for supporting focus.

3

When should you take a pre-workout?

Most pre-workouts are best taken around 20–45 minutes before training, giving the active ingredients time to start working. The exact timing, however, depends on the product’s formulation and your individual response.

With caffeine-containing products, keep in mind that the effects can last for several hours, so the timing of your workout also matters.

4

Can you take a pre-workout in the evening?

Yes, but it depends on the ingredients. Stimulant pre-workouts containing caffeine may make it harder to fall asleep or reduce sleep quality when taken in the evening.

For evening training, try a caffeine-free pre-workout or individual ingredients aimed at performance or muscle pump without a stimulant effect.

5

How can you tell if a pre-workout is too strong?

Too high a dose of stimulants may cause restlessness, nervousness, a racing heartbeat, shaking, nausea or headaches. If you experience these effects, reduce the serving size or choose a product with less caffeine.

If you are new to pre-workouts, it is sensible to start with a lower dose and see how your body responds.

6

Do you need to take a pre-workout before every workout?

No. A pre-workout is not necessary for a good training session, and you do not need to use one every time. It can be useful on days when you need some extra energy.

With stimulant-based products, frequent use can lead to increased caffeine tolerance, meaning the same dose may feel less effective over time.

What types of pre-workouts are available?

Comprehensive products containing caffeine and other ingredients designed to support energy, focus and performance.

Products focused mainly on blood flow, muscle hydration and muscle pump without a significant stimulant effect. They are suitable for people who do not want to increase their caffeine intake, for example when training in the evening.

What to look for in a pre-workout based on your goal?

Caffeine: energy and focus

Caffeine is one of the most common ingredients in pre-workouts. It helps reduce feelings of fatigue and supports focus, making it a good choice when you need an extra boost before training.

Tyrosine: focus without caffeine

Tyrosine is an amino acid that the body uses to produce substances including dopamine and noradrenaline. It is therefore commonly used to support focus during physical or mental stress. Unlike caffeine, it is not a traditional stimulant, so it may also be a better option for evening workouts.

Beta-alanine: high-intensity performance

Beta-alanine helps increase carnosine levels in the muscles. Carnosine helps buffer the build-up of acidity during intense exercise and may therefore delay fatigue during short, high-intensity efforts. Beta-alanine can cause temporary tingling or prickling sensations on the skin, which is a common effect.

Arginine: blood flow and muscle pump

Arginine is an amino acid that the body can use to produce nitric oxide, which widens blood vessels and supports blood flow to the muscles. It is therefore commonly used in products designed to enhance blood flow and muscle pump.

You may come across forms such as L-arginine or arginine AKG.

Glycerol: muscle hydration and muscle pump

Glycerol helps retain water in muscle cells, which is why it is used in pre-workouts to support hydration and increase muscle fullness.

When taking glycerol, it is important to drink enough fluids at the same time.
